Krisann Rehbein is the founder and principal of Building City Lab. A nationally-recognized leader in K12 design education, she spent over a decade at the Chicago Architecture Foundation working with young people and residents of the city’s diverse communities. With colleague, Jen Masengarb, they authored The Architecture Handbook: A Student Guide to Understanding Buildings, and Discover Design, an on-line learning and networking tool for young people to showcase their design process.

She writes regularly about urban design, social inequality, and design education. Her work regularly appears in Newcity and the Journal Sentinel on-line. She has also written for Lumpen.

Since founding the Building City Lab in 2014, she has collaborated with numerous Milwaukee Public Schools and not-for-profits, including the Chicago Architecture Foundation and Greater Together Milwaukee.

Working with schools, projects align with state and national education standards Working on a project basis, we can partner on everything from curriculum planning, student instruction, teacher training, grant writing, organizational strategy, event planning and everything in between.
